New Immunization Rules For Next Years 6th Grade Students
NEXT YEAR'S 6TH GRADERS MUST HAVE IMMUNIZATIONS
All students who will be sixth graders in the 2010-11 school year must receive a "booster dose" of tetanus and diphtheria toxoids and accellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap) at 11 or 12 years of age. This is a new health department requirement. Students will not be enrolled in 6th Grade without this vaccination.
The Alabama Department of Public Health encourages parents to get their children immunized now to avoid long waits at health department clinics at registration time.
This requirement will escalate by one successive grade each year for the following 6 years to include sixth through twelfth grades, beginning fall of 2016.
